Classcraft
Classcraft is a gamification program that links academic, behavioral, and social/emotional concepts throughout the day. The program fosters a sense of community and cooperation, as well as reinforces positive social and academic choices. Students each have an avatar that earns XP (experience points) and GP (gold). XP and gold are earned by being responsible and respectful throughout the day. Students can spend their gold in the class store as well as in the game. Students can also lose HP (health) if they make unkind or irresponsible choices. There’s also a chance to lose/gain XP/HP/gold through “random events,” which are playful brain breaks that can happen throughout the day.
If a student loses all of his/her HP, they’ll complete a reflection activity to help them overcome any challenges they’re having. This reflection will be sent home for parents to review, sign, and return to the classroom on the following day.
You’ll be able to connect to your child’s Classcraft account, which lets you see his/her “game feed.” This is where you can see your child’s earned or lost points. To connect, please refer to the form I’ll send home soon with your unique parent code. Alternatively, send me an email from the address you used when you registered your child for school. This is to protect student privacy, as I want to be sure I only connect authorized guardians to your child’s account.
Please see the Parent Guide below for more information.
