Math
This week we'll continue working with multiplication, but we're also diving into division. We'll spend the week practicing the strategies we've learned, as well as add a new one for division. On Friday we will review for the unit 2 test, which we will take on Monday, November 13.
Reading
Over the next two weeks, we'll be exploring informational texts - specifically persuasive articles. We'll be using the reread strategy to deepen comprehension. We'll also be looking at main idea and key details as we read. Our word study will be focused on suffixes and how they can change the meaning of a word.
Writing
Our class is working on their second personal narrative. This one will be published (see the last blog post for more information). Students should be focused on a specific moment in their life, writing to show readers all the things that happened during that moment. We're striving to use descriptive language, dialogue, an interesting lead and story ending, paragraphs, and grade-level spelling and punctuation. Students should also be taking their time to write legibly - they may have written a fabulous story, but if we can't read it, we'll never get to enjoy the story.
